ENEMY WITHIN released 2010-01-18

Sins In Vain was created in Helsingborg, Sweden in the fall of 2005 as the singer Linnéa Renholm's final school project. The idea was initially to write a few songs and then record them. She first turned to her dear friend Christian Andersen for some help and advice. Christian had a few ideas and together they soon had written the first song of the project. Christian wrote the music and Linnéa wrote the lyrics and arranged the vocal part. Christian had been playing in a metal band for some years at the time and this could be heard in the music he wrote.

A few months passed and some more songs came to life. Linnéa and Christian started to feel they had something going, the songs sounded well. So they wanted to form a band and asked the drummer Fredrik Löfgren and the bass player Johan Nilsson if they wanted to join. The project had now developed into more of a band project than just song writing and recording. The name "Sins In Vain" was also born by now.

The members heard about a music competition called Popcorn for unsigned band around the area of Helsingborg. Linnéa decided to make the competition a part of her school project and they used the recorded songs for applying to the competition, which was about to start in January 2006. Christian and Fredrik were still in the project, but unfortunately Johan didn't have enough time anymore. So Linnéa had to find a new bass player and also one more guitarist to make the member line up complete. She didn't have a hard time finding anyone for the job though. Since she went to a music school she knew many talented musicians there. She asked her friends Fredrik Andersson and Andreas Weis if they wanted play with Sins In Vain in the competition, and they said yes. The competition went better than expected; Sins in Vain ended up as the 5th best band of the whole competition. Both a professional jury and the audience got to have an opinion about the result. More than 80 bands had applied for the competition, so Sins In Vain felt very happy with their placement.

In May 2006 the school project finally was over. The band got some very positive feedback and the whole project had been a lot of fun. So even though the school project was over; Sins In Vain had only just begun!

The first real demo was recorded half a year later at Stefan Rosqvist Studio, winter 06/07. The member line up was Linnéa Renholm (vocals), Christian Andersen (guitar), Matthias Törngren (guitar), Fredrik Andersson (bass) and Fredrik Löfgren (drums). Sins In Vain entered the competition Popcorn again and this time they ended up as the third best band!

After Popcorn things started happening and Sins In Vain played a lot of gigs around Sweden and had a number of articles in local papers. In the summer of 2007 some big changes were made and Sins In Vain took a giant step forward, both musically and personally. Guitarist Matthias was replaced by Jens Tellman. Sins In Vain now felt stronger than ever and the rest of 2007 was pretty busy with live gigs and soon also the recording of the band's second demo.

This time the demo was recorded in the band's own studio, with Jens sitting by the computer and then mixing it all. The result: A great 3 track demo! The songs have the heavy sound of the new wave of Swedish metal, but are still very easy on the ears due to the very melodic influences.

In the spring of 2008 the record company Nidavallen Music got interested in Sins In Vain. They believe that the band, with its sound and personal chemistry, has potential for something big. In June 2008 a record deal with Nidavallen Music was signed. The working process has already begun. So keep your eyes open for Sins In Vain's debut album, which will be released in the summer/fall of 2009!
